Some groups of the climate justice action network decided to use the image of the Red Lines.
Why?
The Red Lines show a clear message: Until here and no further!
We mark the limits of destruction that shall no longer be trespassed.
It’s up to us to set the boundaries for extractives industies.
The lights are on red: In order to have a realistic chance to confine global warming to 1.5 degrees, we have to leave fossil fuels in the ground – immediately! And we have to stop wasting energy on industrial agriculture, useless mega-projects, more and more airports – and other excesses of economic growth.
It’s us, the people, who come up with the real solutions for climate justice, and defend the basis of our lives.
There have already been Red Lines actions in Paris during the COP21, in Wales during a occupation of a coal mine, at the Hambach Forest, and in many other places.
The image is spreading and connects struggles for climate justice across the world.
